SuperVegan’s having an election night party. If you’re in the NYC area and you want to celebrate/commiserate with a bunch of Obama-loving vegetarians, this would be the event for you. Here are the details:

***

Join SuperVegan in Fort Greene, Brooklyn for our Election Night Party as we keep a watchful eye on the results while downing discounted drink specials like Vegan White Russians, Chocolate Hawaiians, and Joe The Plumber Cocktails and munching on yummy vegan grub at Red Bamboo Brooklyn on Tue, November 4th from 8pm on.

If you are on Facebook, RSVP here.

To accommodate more peeps and after lessons learned from our awesome debate watch party, Red Bamboo Brooklyn’s first floor will serve dinner from 8pm through midnight and the second floor and patio will be cleared of tables for folks to drink and hang out until the wee hours. We’ll also have DJs on the second floor throughout the night!!!

***

This is where I’ll be tomorrow night, hopefully cheering instead of crying.

stuff i'm looking forward to in 2008 @ 12:41 pm

Current Mood: excited

Just got tickets for Marilyn Manson at Hammerstein Ballroom on January 30. My friend April (who I haven't seen since she OMG HAD A BABY!) is coming with me. Anyone else going?

I know Manson sucks now, but it's a nostalgia thing; I can't help it. Antichrist Superstar was good. And I have strangely happy memories of waiting in line huddled in a sleeping bag in the freezing cold for eight hours just to get a front row spot when I was eighteen, so it would just feel lame to not go at all when he's back in my neighborhood.

Also got tickets for Macbeth starring Patrick Stewart at BAM for March 11. Good seats, too. After the awesomeness of King Lear with Ian McKellen last year, I'm really looking forward to this.

I am also so excited that I'm going to see David Tennant in Hamlet this year. So totally beyond excited. That and the fact that I get to spend time in London again. It's the thing I'm most looking forward to in 2008.

Oh, and in case you haven't seen this: YEARS worth of RPF fantasy material.

I met Stephen Colbert! @ 12:18 pm

Current Mood: excited

I met Stephen Colbert! For real this time! Well, kind of...

He did a signing Monday night at the Columbus Circle Borders, so I rushed over there after work and stood in line for two and a half hours. Stephen was late because he was introducing Nancy Pelosi at the Glamour Awards, and when he finally showed up it was with most of his writing staff.

I'll have to go home and count the signatures... there was a HUGE table of people, with Stephen in the middle, all of them signing our books. (Incidentally? The Colbert Report writing staff looks exactly like mid-20s versions of the geeky boys I hung out with in high school.)

It went quickly and was a bit overwhelming; mostly I smiled and said "Good luck with the strike," which they seemed to appreciate. I didn't really have a chance to say anything to Stephen, although he said "Nice to meet you" and I grinned like an idiot and mumbled "You're awesome." [info]jaydk asked one of the writers if they'd been out holding signs that day, and Stephen answered that they had been. (He seemed very supportive of the writers, obviously.)

So, I've got my copy of "I Am America" signed by the whole writing staff. Coolest collectible item EVER!

Proof of what a complete dork I am! @ 02:11 pm

I met Joan Jett and I was most excited because:

a) she's a badass rock star
b) she's a badass lesbian icon
c) she's a badass animal rights advocate
d) she guest starred on "Highlander" that one time

...

...

If you guessed d), you know me disturbingly well!

(Anyway, here's a picture of Joan Jett and me.)
